Got Mail!

This update has been sitting on my computer since Sunday. It's been one of those weeks. FULL! Anyways, pretend its still the weekend and it will all make sense...

It's been a nice weekend. Perfect temperatures. Food. Good music.

Last night, several OP members made it out to O'Malley's Irish Pub in Weston to listen to the Three Dollar Band. They were fantastic, and we hope to play with them later on this summer. Have you people been to O'Malley's? It's an underground bar. As in under the ground. We love it.

OP mailbox is full! See two of our first postcards below, more to come! Keep 'em comin', people. We'll write you back and you can even get cool OP Merch.

Oriole Post On Air

Greetings from Oriole Post. It's been a fun few weeks for us as a band. Our first record, <a href="http://www.oriolepostmusic.com/fr_shop">Silver City, is now in our hands and we're excited to play around a bunch over the next few months and share the music we've been working on.

We're stoked to play the 90.9 the Bridge local showcase this weekend. They are a fantastic radio station that plays great music and supports local artists. They have our song, Like I Should, in their rotation. On Saturday the 27th, they are hosting us, Hidden Pictures, the Paperclips, Andrew Foshee and Clay Hughes for their local showcase. Its going to be a great night. Get your tickets<a href="http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/0600439CBAF2BC7D"> here!
We hope that you'll come see us.

In support of Saturday's event, the Bridge is having us live in the studio tomorrow around 1:30. We will play a few songs and talk about our new record. If you are in KC, tune to 90.9 and if you live out of town you can stream it from their website, www.ktbg.fm
Thanks for all your support! See upcoming shows below.

February 27th | The Beaumont Club| 7:00 pm

Band Camp 2010. or We Love Chickens.

Last weekend, we all holed up in my parents house and worked on music.

We also did a few other things: walking out to the middle of the semi-frozen pond (every step could be your last!), Seth and Bill wrecklessly driving ATV's and not being killed, Michelle and Michaela diving head first downhill on the sled, zoolander, lots of tea, lots of coffee, foosball dance party, late night Mexican food in the raging metropolis of Gardner, Kansas, etc. Michaela brought a white board which kept us on track. We're a serious band, people. Watch out.

On Saturday morning, Michaela wanted to play a song for my parent's chickens. <a href="http://www.facebook.com/#/pages/Oriole-Post/11284363871?ref=ts">She picked an old fiddle tune called, &quot;Cluck ol' Hen&quot; and we all took off for the coop. They loved it. Only afterward did I find out that the song is about a Hen that can't lay eggs and ends up in a pot. I felt a little bad. The poor birds have been under enough pressure as it is. It's been the coldest winter I can remember. Last month, three of the chickens got eaten by a racoon. My dad lost his favorite bird, whom he had named The Pheonix. It was a sad day for all of us, but especially my mother who told me, &quot; The world just isn't the same.&quot; To make up for singing such a mean song, we decided to take a photo with the chickens and then immediately made a big fat omlette.

See? Everyone is ok.

Anyway, the whole purpose of this note is to tell you that along with having a great time this past weekend, we started working on some new tunes. And we're excited to share them with you and we've got several shows planned in the next few weeks so we can do just that.
Check out the shows tab and come say hello. Especially if you live in St. Louis (or know of anyone who would put us up there!)
&nbsp;
Also, listen to <a href="http://www.ktbg.fm">90.9 the Bridge! They've been playing Like I Should on air.

It's terribly cold here in Kansas City. Terribly Cold. Michaela and I had the pleasure of going to New York this past weekend where is was significantly warmer than the ol' Midwest. Heatwave actually. And we had a fantastic time. The primary purpose for the trip was to see one of our favorite bands, Crooked Still, play a show at South Paw (where they have a photobooth!). And it was fantastic. The kind of fantastic where you dance all the way to the subway, listen the the band you just heard on your ipod all the way back to Manhattan and stay up extra late dreaming about the kind of music you want to make. We're motivated, people. Starting the new year off right.

This weekend, we're all headed out to my parents place in Spring Hill for our first ever band retreat. Or Band Summit. Or Band Extended-Focused Rehearsal time. Whatever you'd like to call it. We're gonna do the trust fall, human knot and work on a few new songs. We'll probably eat good too. We've got lots to practice for with three exciting shows coming up in the next few weeks. On the 29th of January we'll be at the Czar Bar with the Parade Schedule and Grisly Hand. On Feb 13th, we'll be at Homers, and on Feb. 27th we will be playing at the 90.9 Bridge Local Showcase. Hope to see you at one of those shows. Maybe we can all do the trust fall together.

Main Street Tonight!

We couldn't be more excited for tonight's show. It's always fun to play, but some shows are really special. Tonight is going to be a blast for several reasons that I will now list for you:

1.) baked goods for all (Michaela was throwing around some recipies yesterday and mmm!)
2.) Christmas tunes
3.) playing with our dear friends For the Birds (Tim Bridgham's band) and David Bennett. We might even play some songs all together.
4.) it's warm at Main street!
5.) Aaron Clark is running the sound board, so you know it will sound great!

I can't wait! Hope to see you tonight.

Love,
Rachel (on behalf of all of OP)

Silver City is now available on ITunes.

We're playing tonight for Nate and Elizabeth's wedding reception, and couldn't be more excited to debut a few new songs that we worked up just for them. Nate is Seth's brother and both him and Elizabeth have been really faithful friends to OP. We couldn't be happier for you guys! Congrats!
